Sticks2My friend Lauren and I came upon this “twig situation” yesterday.  (her glorious words)

“Lean on Me” (2012), a work of willow and ironwood by artist Patrick Dougherty, can be found on the way to St. John’s University in Collegeville, MN.  It took 19 days to construct and will remain in place for 2 years.  I highly recommend a visit.  And if you go in the summer, I highly recommend a post-visit tick check.

It was humbling and inspiring to be with my spouse, friends, and strangers at our state capitol on this historic day.  I went as a citizen.  I had no client to please.  I could put down my camera at any time, singing and cheering along (which I did, happily).  But, after long hours of waiting, at that decisive moment when the news of passage was confirmed, I wanted nothing more than to be a documentarian.  I felt that it was the greatest offering I could give to the sacred moment and to the movement.
